팁 [Norton Utilities]

5. Disk First Aid

> Norton Utilities 6.0 for Macintosh
> How to use a RAM disk to run Norton Disk Doctor or
> Speed Disk when you are unable to start from the NUM CD
> Situation:
> You have late-model G4, G4MP, G4 Cube, one of the
> newest iMacs, or a TI (titanium) Powerbook, and you
> cannot boot the computer using your Norton Utilities CD
> . Or you have electronically purchased NUM and wish to
> perform routine maintenance that requires that you
> start from a CD.
> Solution:
> The following solution is for routine maintenance, such
> as optimizing your normal boot volume, and assumes that
> you will need only Norton Disk Doctor, Speed Disk, and
> Norton Shared Lib in the RAM disk. If you plan on
> placing more items in the RAM disk, you may need to
> resize it accordingly in step #1.
> 1. Started from your normal boot volume, open the
> Memory control panel, turn on the RAM disk option, and
> adjust the size slider to about 5500K.
> 2. Insert the system software Install or Restore CD
> that came with your Macintosh, click Restart from the
> Special menu, and hold down the "C" key on your
> keyboard through the reboot sequence.
> 3. Once the computer has restarted from the CD, open
> the Utilities folder on the CD and launch Disk First
> Aid.
> 4. In the Select Volumes to Verify section at the top
> of the Disk First Aid window, you should see a RAM disk
> icon; below the icon it should say (name unknown) and
> below that Internal RAM Disk. Select this RAM disk icon
> (please be very sure that you have chosen the correct
> icon).
> 5. Go to the Options menu, and click Erase Disk. You
> can give the RAM disk a name such as Norton, or you can
> leave it with the default name (usually Untitled).
> 6. Confirm in the Format field that it will be
> formatted as a Mac OS Standard volume, and that it will
> be the approximate size that you chose in step #1.
> NOTE: The size should be in MB (megabytes), not GB (
> gigabytes).
> 7. Click Erase.
> 8. Quit Disk First Aid. You should now see the RAM disk
> on the desktop.
> 9. Locate your installed copy of Norton Utilities, and
> open the Norton Utilities Folder and the Norton Tools
> folder inside of it. Copy Norton Disk Doctor and Speed
> Disk from the Norton Tools folder to the RAM disk.
> 10. From the System folder on your normal boot volume,
> open the Extensions folder and locate the Norton Shared
> Lib file. Copy this file to the RAM disk.
> NOTE: If you created a folder for the NUM applications
> on the RAM disk, then be sure to place the Norton
> Shared Lib file in the same folder as the applications.
> 11. Launch either Norton Disk Doctor or Speed Disk from
> the RAM disk, and proceed with the exam or optimization.
