[Math+Magic]TM Personal Edition v2.5 Released.

January 7, 2002 - InfoLogic, Inc. released MathMagic v2.5 Personal Edition with much improved keyboard shortcuts and more symbols support.
MathMagic is a mathematical equation editor that supports WYSIWYG editing and powerful features. It also comes with many high quality mathematical and symbol fonts. Full version of MathMagic Personal Edition is downloadable from its web site at www.mathmagic.com for FREE.

What is New (v2.5)

- MathMagic Application(Personal Edition) is now free for a limited period: 1 year or 100 times of launch.
(It will ask you to update to a newer version once expired. We do not have any plan at this moment whether the new update will be still free or not)

- Changed some factory setting values in "Define Spacing" preference dialog.

- Added many shortcut keys for freequently used Templates and Symbols.

- Added more than 30 symbols in Symbol palettes.

- Added a few menu items and a few keyboard shortcuts.

- Added and updated the Favorites items.

- Fixed several bugs.

What is MathMagic

관심 가져주셔서 감사합니다.

그동안은 거의 해마다 맥월드 SF에는 직접 갔었는데, 올해는 9.11 여파도 있고 또 요즘 대부분 인터넷으로 훑어보는 것이 유행이라 직접 가지는 않고,
대신, 이곳 애플포럼의 생중계 내용을 아침 일찍 일어나 읽었습니다

참고로, 씽크프리는 OS X용 ThinkFree Office와 OS X Server용을 가지고 부스를 운영중입니다.
OS X의 Java 2 VM에 아직 다소 문제가 있어, 아직 베타버전을 출품중입니다만...

이럴때 마다 느끼는거지만..
맥월드에서 선전하는 국내 맥지원 기업들이 정말 자랑스럽기만합니다.
비록 애플의 유수한 업체처럼 메이저급은 현재 아닌것이 애석할 따름이지만..
(섭섭해도 양해를... )곧 따라잡을 날이 올거라 바라마지 않습니다.
그래도 소프트매직이나 인포로직같은 국내 굵직한 맥기업들 보면
대단하다는 말밖에는 드릴말씀이 없네요.
인포로직도 이번을 빌미로 맥엑스포 성공리에 끝내시길 빕니다.
씽크프리가 텐버전으로 출시가되면 마이크로소프트오피스보다
더 성공하길 기원합니다.
그리고 math-magic도 많은 맥유저분들이 생소하게 들으시는 프로그램이라 생각됩니다.
이번을 빌미로 이 프로그램도 이런때는 이렇게 유용하다는것을 심어주시는
시간이나 기회도 필요하다고 생각을 합니다.

또한 실용성면에서 어느제품이 유리하며
어떤 강점을 가지고 있는지도 궁금합니다.

안녕하세요?

큰 차이점이 있습니다.

MathMagic은 수식을 쉽게 입력하고 예쁘게(고품질) 출력하기 위한 목적의 제품이고,
Mathmatica는 수학문제를 푸는 기능이 중심이라고 할 수 있습니다.
Mathmatica에서도 수식 입력이나 출력이 일반적인 수준으로는 가능하지만, 전자출판용 품질이라고는 할 수 없고, 그냥 리포트에 포함시키는 정도라고 할 수 있을 것입니다.

컴퓨터상에서 기존의 자판으로는 여러줄로 된 복잡한 수식을 입력하는 것이나 수많은 수학 기호들을 입력하는 것은 일반인으로서는 쉽지 않고, TeX을 공부한 수학 전문가나 특정 수학관련 소프트웨어를 한참 가지고 놀아야(!) 어느 정도의 속도로 입력이 가능한데,
MathMagic은 초보자도 쉽게 입력하고 편집할 수 있는 고유의 인터페이스를 가지고 있고, 전문가는 더욱 빨리 더욱 정밀한 기능까지 활용할 수 있도록 지원하여, 워드프로세서나 쿼크, 웹(JPEG, GIF) 등에서 수식을 다양하게 가져다 사용할 수 있도록 해줍니다.

사적인 질문입니다만, 아직 둘째 계획은 없나요?

MathMagic은 일본과 미국 유럽 등 해외 시장에서는 꾸준히 사용자들이 늘어나고 있습니다. 특히 일본의 경우 중학교 고등학교 수학 및 물리 교과서나 참고서 등의 제작하는 전문 출판사 시장을 많이 평정해나가고 있습니다.
전세계 50여개 국가의 수많은 대학교에서 이공계 대학생과 교수분들이 각 학교별로 많이 사용자로 등록되어 있기도 합니다.

물론 아직도 갈 길이 먼데, 나이탓인지 벌써 눈도 침침하고 이제는 예전만큼 능률이 안오르는군요.

QuarkXPress 6.x나 InDesign 2.0~CS를 이용해 기술문서 편집을 많이 하실 경우, 아래 링크에서 최신 버전의 public Beta release를 2004년말까지 사용해보실 수 있습니다. 아래에 영어 안내문 중간에 제공되는 인증번호를 입력하시면 됩니다.
새로운 서체는 이번 릴리즈에는 포함되어 있지 않으나, 추후 OpenType과 TrueType+PostScript 포맷 모두 새로 릴리즈 될 예정입니다.

오늘 MacZot할인 소프트웨어 소개란에 MathMagic이 있더군요. 제가 아직 맥 1년차라 혹시나하고 포럼을 뒤져봤더니 애포회원님께서 만드신 것이었군요! 위 글타래중에도 있지만 저도 고무적인 생각이 듭니다. 그러고보니 제 글도 2년만에 이 글타래를 살리는게 되는군요. ㅎㅎ
